1. Scope
This notice supplements the Cognisearch privacy policy for California residents. It explains the limited information handled by cognisearch.net and the request process. Some California Consumer Privacy Act rights apply only when the law covers the business and information, but we use the same practical request channel wherever reasonably possible.
2. Categories handled in the last 12 months
| Category | Examples on this site | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name and email when you send an enquiry; IP address or a masked IP in ordinary hosting, security, consent, or measurement data. | Directly from you or automatically from your browser and network. |
| Internet or electronic activity | Requested pages, referrer, browser and device information, consent state, timing, and interactions. | Vercel, CookieYes, and limited cookieless measurement; fuller GA4 and Clarity sessions only after analytics consent. |
| Approximate location | Country or city-level information inferred from network data; never precise GPS location. | Hosting, consent, and measurement providers. |
| Correspondence and professional context | The message and business information you choose to include in an enquiry or booking. | Directly from you. |
The website does not request payment-card data, government identifiers, precise geolocation, biometrics, health data, account credentials, or other sensitive personal information.
3. Purposes
We use these categories to respond to enquiries, arrange requested meetings, deliver and secure the website, remember and prove privacy choices, detect abuse, diagnose faults, understand site performance, comply with law, and protect legal rights. We do not use website data for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Service providers
We disclose only the information needed for each provider’s work: Vercel for hosting and security; Resend and Google Workspace for enquiry delivery; CookieYes for consent management and logging; Google for Tag Manager and Analytics; Microsoft for Clarity; and Calendly when you choose its booking service. We may also disclose information where a valid legal obligation requires it.
5. No sale or cross-context behavioural advertising
Cognisearch has not sold personal information or shared it for cross-context behavioural advertising in the preceding 12 months. The site has no advertising tags, and we do not knowingly sell or share personal information of anyone under 16.
6. Retention
Enquiry correspondence is normally kept for up to 24 months. The CookieYes browser choice is valid for up to 12 months. GA4 user and event data is configured for 14 months. Clarity playback is retained for 30 days, while click and heatmap data and labelled or favourited sessions may remain for up to 13 months. Security and consent evidence is retained only as reasonably needed for its stated purpose and applicable obligations.
7. California privacy rights
Subject to applicable law and verification, California residents may request access to categories and specific pieces of information, correction, deletion, portability, information about sources and recipients, and non-discriminatory treatment. Because we do not sell, share for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use sensitive information for restricted purposes, there is no sale/share or sensitive-use programme to opt out of.
8. Requests and authorised agents
Email contact@cognisearch.net with the subject “California privacy request.” Describe the request and the email address or interaction concerned. We may request proportionate verification. An authorised agent may submit a request with proof of authority where the law permits.
9. Global Privacy Control and cookie choices
CookieYes recognises Global Privacy Control. Cognisearch does not sell or share personal information, but the signal also helps preserve denied optional categories. You can reopen “Manage cookies” at any time to reject analytics, save granular settings, or withdraw an earlier consent.
