1. Our approach
Cognisearch respects copyright and expects the same from others. Cognisearch.net is a company website and does not offer public accounts or user-uploaded content, but we will review a clear, good-faith report that material on the site infringes copyright.
2. Send a copyright notice
Email contact@cognisearch.net with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:
- your physical or electronic signature, or the signature of someone authorised to act for the copyright owner;
- identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list if the notice covers multiple works;
- the exact URL and enough detail for us to locate the material you believe infringes;
- your name and reliable contact information;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorised by the owner, the owner’s agent, or the law; and
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
3. What happens next
We will acknowledge a sufficiently complete notice, review the identified material and relevant context, and take appropriate action. That may include requesting clarification, removing or restricting the material, contacting the person who supplied it, or declining a request that does not establish a reasonable copyright concern.
We may share the notice with the person responsible for the material, our hosting or legal providers, or a transparency-reporting service where appropriate and lawful. Do not include information that is unnecessary for the claim.
4. Counter-notice
If Cognisearch removes material you supplied in response to a United States DMCA notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification, email a counter-notice containing:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the removed material and where it appeared;
- a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed through mistake or misidentification;
- your name, address, and telephone number; and
- the jurisdiction and service-of-process statements required by 17 U.S.C. §512(g)(3).
We may provide a valid counter-notice to the original claimant and follow the process required by applicable law.
5. Good-faith reports only
Copyright exceptions such as licence, quotation, criticism, review, or fair use may apply. Knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a United States DMCA notice or counter-notice may create liability under 17 U.S.C. §512(f). If you are unsure, consider obtaining legal advice before sending a formal notice.
6. No safe-harbour claim
This contact process does not state that Cognisearch is a user-content hosting service, has appointed a United States Copyright Office designated agent, or qualifies for a particular statutory safe harbour. It is a practical route for resolving legitimate concerns about material on our own website.
